In Mityana, Uganda, Dorea partners with Raising Hope and Mending Hearts which was founded by and is operated by Lumu Samuel. Lumu is a Village Chief-- a godly man of deep character and evident sacrifice. While we have only been involved since 2019, he has been caring for children since 2007 when he was just 17 years old. Having been an orphan himself, his heart broke for the children with no one to care for them.

A special thanks from the children: The new beds and Mattresses arrived and you can hear their excitement.
Our beloved Lumu Samuel, serving food to the children.

A wonderful visit by Mike, Michelle and family from Indiana U.S.

Updates:
Thank you to a recent donor who supplied the money to purchase 2 solar panels and 8 lights, and a phone charger to be operable when the electricity is down, which happens frequently.

Sponsorship
Here at Dorea Ministries International, we believe every child carries equal dignity and equal worth--so no child is ever left over-looked or "chosen last". Instead, as a sponsor, you become part of the WHOLE story, ensuring every child flourishes.
As a PARTNER-IN-HOPE, your $85/month supports the basic needs of one child, including food and education.
If you would rather just support the food ($35.00/month) or the education ($50.00/month) those are also options. But your monthly giving, whatever the amount is what will help these children flourish. Without sufficient help, these children lack nutritious meals and many times there are children unable to attend classes because their fees cannot be paid. That's why they need your support.
Below meet the 50 children of Raising Hope and Mending Hearts orphanage! Most of these pictures were taken before their recent move to their very own home. Updated pictures will be coming soon:)
Housing
Lumu Samuel had purchased land several years ago with the hope of building an orphanage someday. Through another donor several years ago, he was able to build a latrine facility. In answer to his prayer and perseverance, by God's grace, we were able to begin building the orphanage in summer 2024. Here are some of the pictures of the process. In September 2025, the children were able to move in! This is Phase 1..there are a few rooms left to be built across from the current ones. Every dollar sent went immediately to what is was sent for through the careful management of Lumu Samuel. Many locals were provided jobs in the process. To God be the Glory!

Water
Water is a constant need. In the past, the children would walk and look for water often from muddy water holes or water would need to be purchased. When building the orphanage, we decided to do a metal roof in order to harvest rain water. The water runs into the gutter system and then into a storage tank. After that, it is purified by water filtration devices. Also, a well was dug on the site and a generator purchased so that the pump can run even if the electricity isn't functioning as is often the case in this area. Shortly after the well was operating, a group of school children from another village were walking looking for water, when they came upon this site. They enjoyed filling their jugs with fresh, clean water. We are so grateful for the people who donated to this project!
Hello from the Mityana farm!
At Dorea Ministries, we believe lasting change comes through dignity, stewardship, and opportunity. Alongside meeting immediate needs, we come alongside Raising Hope and Mending Hearts to invest in sustainable small business initiatives -- particularly agriculture and food production--that allow the orphanage to grow food to eat and generate surplus to sell or barter within the community.
These projects help create a potential for food security, practical skills, and long term sustainability. They are a vital step toward empowerment allowing them to grow and participate in their own provision and future.
The Mityana Farm currently operates on 2 acres of rented land with plans to rent an additional 2 acres to expand food production.
Current crops include cassava, potatoes, corn, bananas, and coffee.

Education
Educating orphans is an act of love and stewardship. By investing in their minds and hearts, we empower them to discover their God-given potential and become leaders who transform their communities!
At Raising Hope and Mending Hearts orphanage, the children attend several different schools. Paying for the tuition, materials, uniforms, and exam fees is a constant need. Your monthly sponsorship is what makes this possible.
The dream of the future would be to open our own private, discipleship and academic school near the orphanage.
